Yeah it seems to help! Before the external antenna RSRP was around -103 dBm, after connecting the antenna RSRP measured at -87 dBm. This goes a little bit beyond my tech skills, but based on few charts I've read it seems that -87 is considered to be a good signal strength, but with values like -103 dBm one can expect to experience slowdowns or even occasional loss of signal.
