Yours are earlier than mine! Despite me being more to the south (the capital region). Well, no wonder, mine had to climb their first 10 or 20 cm in a shade before they reached higher than the surrounding competitors.
When I bought the place, the house had been uninhabited for ten years or so. But, before that the people living here were gardeners. Thanks to them - it seems like they picked a favourable spot for the peony =)
