I bought my house in April 2008. At that time the outermost layer of siding was steel plates. Yes, the kind of steel plates usually used for a roof. From that on I started slowly tearing away the old layers, until the actual log walls were exposed. Some bad sections of the logs had to be replaced, and after that I started to install new siding. Today at the noon the outer siding is finished. Or, to be precise, it still lacks a little finishing white paint here and there, but all the major work is completed. Later on I might consider a minor expansion, like a small roof above the stairs. But that can wait, as there is still plenty of work to be done indoors.
