There was this bird walking around my yard, foraging plantain seeds for food. She wasn't particularly scared of me. At first I wasn't sure about the species, as her shape and size doesn't exactly match any of our native birds. I checked the internet and it appears to be a female pheasant. I don't know how is the current situation, but I remember some ten years ago talking with a guy who owns a house nearby, and he released pheasants to the surrounding woods, so that fox can hunt them, and then he can hunt the foxes. Oh well, so, I'm curious to see if this particular bird chooses to hang around for several days, or if she is just stopping by.
