Several months ago I participated in crowd-funding an album by a blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Erja Lyytinen. A signed LP arrived in today's mail. The album sleeve has a personal background story, mentioning details like the album being co-produced by Chris Kimsey, recorded in London at The State of The Ark studio - and using the same pieces of technology Chris has used when working with Rolling Stones. (His career started in 1970, he was sound engineer for Led Zeppelin album III). Well, details like these are interesting, but what touched me the most were some of Erja's notes on her personal life - her own experiences which give the depth and substance to the feel of blues. And what about the music, then? It is good, honest blues, fine and talented, highly professional - and deep, personal and touching.

The opening track of Erja's album is titled Stolen hearts. After listening the album for the first time, my favourite is Black ocean.
