Success! The laptop on the right is running MS SQL Server 2017 on Linux. The other laptop is on Windows 7, running a piece of software I wrote - it connects to the SQL server and performs database queries. This is the basic functionality I need to solve looming compatibility issues with the software they use at the milling company. I mean, this would allow me to migrate their old databases from a windows box to a linux host.
