A cat update : Both of the cats have been showing signs of old age, for more than a year. During the winter The Other Cat developed multiple health issues, gradually worsening, and once again I found it very difficult to make the decision on when would be the right time for the final decision concerning his life. Especially with The Other Cat visiting a vet doesn't feel like a comfortable option, since he isn't okay with the procedure - and also, at the old age it feels like most of his health issues were already incurable. So, my chosen strategy was to allow him enjoy his life for as long as it seemed enjoyable, and then just let him out of the misery when his life starts to seem like misery. Earlier in the summer I felt that the day has come, and so The Other Cat is gone. Well, Viikunia the Cat does her best to show she finds her life fully enjoyable. She spends most of her time sleeping on the sofa, just occasionally getting up for food, only making very brief visits outdoors. This summer I have seen her catch a mouse once, so the hunting instinct still is there, but it pretty much seems like she is just prioritizing comfort and easiness at this stage of her life.
